Joe Hoffman (aka "Cowtown Joe"), the Program Director of Super Heroes for Doa'a, began work on his musical saga about the blues on accident one day while he was at work.
As he was working at his desk, Joe heard the song "Angel of Harlem" by U2 (one of Joe's all-time favorite rock bands) being played thru his headphones.
When the band's lead singer, Bono, sang the words "An angel in devil's shoes/Salvation in the blues", a mythic chord went off within Joe and he was inspired to write the song "Salvation in the Blues" as a tribute to what the amazing music of the blues has meant to him over the years.
After writing another song that had a similar narrative voice to "Salvation in the Blues", Joe sensed that there was an over-arching story that tied the two songs together and he began the process of writing his musical saga, first as a screenplay.
But after being inspired by listening to several wonderful dramatic podcasts that Marvel had produced like "Marvel's Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show", "Marvel's Wastelanders: Black Widow", and "Wolverine: The Long Night", Joe decided to adapt his screenplays into dramatic musical podcast form.
The end result of this adaption was 28 episodes and 112 songs that Joe was working on producing when Doa'a Al-Dalou (a young lady from the Gaza Strip in Palestine who Joe had helped previously) contacted him asking for some more assistance.
In order to focus on helping Doa'a, Joe has placed the production of his sweet story on an indefinite hold.

Believing that his sweet story was too good to be entirely placed on a shelf where it would collect dust, and seeing how this effort could help increase awareness for his work to help out Doa'a, Joe has decided to put on a scaled back teaser table read production of Salvation in the Blues: A Story of Secular Salvation.
These dynamic dramatic table reads of Joe's sweet story are lovingly inspired by a touching dramatic reading that was performed by the amazingly talented actors, Drew Barrymore and Ellie Kemper, on a 2020 episode of the super sweet show The Drew Barrymore Show: a show that's much beloved by Joe. As is Drew!
